Research Summary
I am the Associate Director of Research for the University of Wisconsin Aquatic Sciences Center which is a statewide program of multidisciplinary research, education, and outreach dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of Wisconsin's water resources - our lakes, rivers, and groundwater - as well as Wisconsin waters of Lakes Michigan and Superior. The Center administers two major multidisciplinary, system-wide research programs - Wisconsin Sea Grant, focusing on the protection and sustainable use of the nation's Great Lakes, and the University of Wisconsin Water Resources Institute, focusing on solutions to Wisconsin's present and emerging water resources issues. Both Sea Grant and the Water Resources Institute function as grant agencies, awarding over $1.6M in funding annually to Wisconsin public and private universities and colleges. In addition, the Aquatic Sciences Center is the administrative home to Water@UW-Madison, a collaborative network of over 170 faculty and staff across over 40 programs at UW-Madison and administers a summer research opportunities program for 30-40 undergraduates each year. My responsibilities include: providing leadership, strategic planning, and administration for the center's research programming, including managing our research portfolio, developing statewide postgraduate fellowships, and supervision of Water@UW staff and initiatives. I am a past chair of Water@UW-Madison and have provided leadership in sustaining this organization for the past decade.
