Research Summary

The central purpose of the Chemistry Department's outreach work is to support people and communities in using Chemistry tools and knowledge to address their interests and concerns through Community-Engaged Research. Our department has substantial analytical capabilities (e.g. to look for compounds of interest in air, water or soil) and we have faculty who are knowledgeable about addressing community issues like contaminants impacting air, water, or land. We participate in workgroups and assist in community education initiatives around emerging contaminants. We believe community engagement is the best outreach method.
