36″ x 26.5″ Oil on canvas In Collaboration with Erin Houghton, Watershed Programs Manager, NEW Water
This painting reflects the resilience and strength achieved in Erin’s career in water through representation of the American White Pelican. She is constantly problem solving and navigating ways to unite communities in effort to join them together in successful watershed management. The American White Pelican is a success story for Green Bay, WI, because of their return to the region after being a rare sight for almost twenty-five years. Thanks to efforts from leaders like Erin, we can now enjoy their presence again. I chose to paint with oil for this piece because of its long drying time and naturally vibrant quality. I felt like capturing the rich and deep tones of the bay could only be done with a medium like oil paint.
