Research Summary
Observational and experimental field studies in Rocky Mountain streams on the life history, behavior, population and community ecology of stream-dwelling organisms; recruitment limitation of population size of stream insects; mechanisms, direct and indirect consequences and evolution of predator-prey, grazer-algal and parasite-host interactions; non-consumptive effects of predators on mayfly life history traits, behavior and population dynamics; invertebrates as indicators of stream water quality; effects of disturbance and climate change on stream organisms; causes and consequences of proliferation of the nuisance diatom (Didymosphenia geminata).
