Research Summary

I study community ecology and population biology, with strong extensions into evolution, phylogenetics, ecosystem ecology, and remote sensing. Although I have initiated multiple research projects involving different questions and different experimental systems, they all involve temporal dynamics, spatial dynamics, or spatio-temporal dynamics – how things vary through time and space. Most projects have combined mathematical theory with either experimental or observational data. Bridging the gap between mathematical theory and data has often required the development of new statistical tools that allow direct testing of mathematical theory.
