The natural world is the inspiration for my work. I try to capture elements of the environment and display them to the viewer through a variety of ways. Much of my work emphasizes three dimensional textures and patterns, because nature is never flat and bland. I use colors that can be found in outdoor paletes, relying heavily on blues, greens and browns. I use a wide variety of mediums and materials, carefully selected to best represent the feeling of the natural world I am trying to convey. My process usually starts as numerous little thoughts and images in my head, where I spend a long time thinking about the piece. I then spend time doing sketch after sketch, developing a more complete three dimensional image in my mind. I let my vision rest and acquire any final details, so that by the time I have started physically creating the piece I can see the completed version I am working towards.
