Climate, People and the Environment Program: Small Molecules, Big Impacts: Understanding how Biogenic Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Mediate Interactions between Forests, Insects, and the Atmosphere

November 12, 2019 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Amy Trowbridge, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Plant volatile organic compounds can play critical roles in determining atmospheric processes and mediating multi-species interactions. In turn, these emissions are in large part controlled by both climate and biotic pressures, including insects and pathogens. In this talk, I will discuss ways in which we are addressing these complex feedbacks including the consequences for ozone formation and plant-insect interactions.
