More than 120 students, researchers, staff, and partners joined us for Blue Futures, an afternoon of keynotes, lightning talks, and conversation that felt both urgent and optimistic. From the opening remarks through the final discussions, we explored the real tensions shaping water research today—especially the promises and risks of emerging technologies—without oversimplifying either side. Talks were grounded, candid, and forward‑looking, sparking thoughtful questions and lively exchanges across disciplines and career stages.
Between sessions, the room filled quickly with conversation. New ideas were tested, practical insights were shared, and connections were made that we hope will extend well beyond the symposium. The sustained engagement throughout the day underscored the value of creating space to think together about where water research is headed, and how we move there responsibly as a community.
