Abundance of Water

8.25” x 16.5”

Pencil Sketch with Oil Pastel Layering.

In Collaboration with Kevin Erb, Outreach Program Manager with the Natural Resources Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

The images of the pipe and the hands cupping water are made with inspiration from Kevin Erb and his work with manure and animal waste. Keeping the idea in mind that without the hard work of Kevin, among many others, we would not have clean water to use for everyday functions. The other contribution was made with the aim to contrast life with and without water. One side depicts the idea of water not only being 60% of what makes us up as living beings but also 71% of the world altogether. From ocean to land, to keeping us alive, to helping things grow, among many things, all of it would not be possible without water. Representing the opposite of this is the skeleton and the blank page; without water, we have/are nothing. These pieces were made in an effort to make individuals question their use of water and push them towards making more water conservation choices.
