Lakes ‘n Pike n’ Potamogeton Praelongus is a multimedia piece that was inspired by the interaction between different lake species of flora in relation to the fauna. Most lakes in the Great Lakes region tend to have different underwater environments, but only some types of fish are found in specific environments. This piece shows how pondweed lakes appear with forest-like environments with thicker vines and leaves providing safety for fish like blue gills or northern pike. On the other hand, other lakes with richer isoetid plant communities have plant life that looks more like small lawns where smallmouth bass live prominently. Lakes ‘n Pike n’ Potamogeton Praelongus collaged many different techniques and media from embroidery to painting, to create an environment reflective of the biodiversity in pondweed centered lakes.
